One of the biggest stories of the Minnesota Twins-Houston Astros ALDS is shortstop Carlos Correa facing his old team in the postseason.

The No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 MLB Draft, Correa starred for seven seasons in Houston and won a World Series with the team in 2017. But in a surprise move, Correa left the Astros in free agency before the 2022 season to sign a three-year deal with the Twins. He agreed to a six-year, $200 million extension before the 2023 campaign.

So while plenty of Houston fans were a little miffed by Correa’s departure, he hasn’t heard from them yet heading into the ALDS, which begins Saturday in Houston.

The two-time All-Star told The Athletic’s Chandler Rome that he went out for dinner in Houston Thursday night, and then for breakfast Friday morning. He said fans came up to talk to him both times.

They wished him luck.

“Are you sure you want to tell me good luck?” Correa told The Athletic.

MLB fans found the situation amusing, and some wondered if Correa would get the same “good luck” reaction from the crowd if he’s hitting in a clutch situation at Minute Maid Park.
