Seattle Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic is in the midst of the best season of his young career. Unfortunately, his impressive year will be put on pause after suffering an unfortunate injury following a heated moment in the dugout on Wednesday night.
Kelenic apparently kicked a water cooler in the dugout after striking out in the ninth inning of Wednesday’s game against the Minnesota Twins.
It has now emerged that this actually caused a very serious injury for Kelenic, who was placed on the 10-day IL and diagnosed with a broken bone in his foot.

It is beyond unfortunate that it comes as a result of the Jarred Kelenic injury, but I am excited for Cade to get a shot in Seattle.
Interviewed him once. He was engaging, which is all a writer can ask.

Kelenic spoke to the media on Thursday to explain the situation, and was extremely emotional, saying that he “let his teammates down”.
“I let the emotions get the best of me there,” said Kelanic in a video shared by Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times on Twitter. “I just feel terrible. Especially for the guys, I let the emotions get the best of me and I let them down. And I take full responsibility for it. It’s on me, it just can’t happen.”

You have got to feel for Kelenic, as you can clearly tell that he very much cares about the success of the team as a whole.
It is obviously a brutal setback that will likely cost Kelenic the rest of the 2023 season. However, at just 24 years old, he should have plenty of chances to pay it back to his teammates and the organization in the future.
