A general view of the ski and snowboarding ramp at Fenway Park ahead of the Polartec Big Air at Fenway Event on February 10, 2016 in Boston, Massachusetts.

We live in an age where NHL games are being played in baseball and football stadiums, college football games are being played on baseball fields and college basketball games are being played on battleships. It was only a matter of time before somebody decided to dump a giant snow slope in the middle of a baseball field, right?

Boston’s Fenway Park is hosting Big Air Fenway, a mix of ski and snowboarding events, on Thursday and Friday night. the snowboarding big air finals are taking place tonight, while the freeskiing big air finals will be taking place Friday evening. In order to do that, a snow slope that makes the Green Monster look small had to be constructed, sending the snow thrill-seekers down a massive ramp from centerfield down to the home plate area. Work on constructing the 150-foot high ramp (nearly three times as high as the Green Monster in left field) began a little more than a month ago, turning one of baseball’s cathedrals into the latest hosting venue for an X-Games style event.

This should be a wicked good time on the man-made slope in Boston, but that grass is going to need a replacement before the start of the new baseball season, which will approach before you know it.
