On Friday afternoon, the Chicago Cubs’ Jorge Soler destroyed an offering from Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Adam Morgan that may still be going, had it not hit the Cubs’ video board in Wrigley Field’s left field bleachers.
Here’s video of the huge blast:

The home run went an estimated 461 feet (tied for 12th in the majors this season), with a 108 mph exit velocity. It was the longest homer by a Cubs player this season, as well as the longest homer at Wrigley Field this season.

The 24-year-old Cuban is starting to heat up (three homers in his last seven games) after a brutal start to the season, where he looked hopeless at the dish at times, especially vs offspeed pitches. Soler is a highly talented hitter with massive potential, and it appears the Cubs’ patience with him through his struggles is now paying off.
