Many baseball fans were upset that MLB officials waited so long before postponing ALDS Game 5 Tuesday night.
But fans waiting at Yankee Stadium were especially angry that no one provided any updates on the situation as the rain delay dragged on.
MLB finally announced the New York Yankees and Cleveland Guardians game had been postponed at 9:35 p.m., more than 2 1/2 hours after the scheduled first pitch. The game has been rescheduled for Tuesday at 4:07 p.m. ET. The winner will take on the Houston Astros in the ALCS beginning Wednesday.
Lindsey Adler of The Atlantic said no one provided any information to the fans at Yankee Stadium during the lengthy rain delay.
“Gates opened to fans at 5 pm,” Adler tweeted. “The Yankees and MLB announced at 6:20 pm that the scheduled 7 pm game would start in a delay. There were no official updates between the announcement of the delay and the announcement of the postponement at 9:35 pm. Awful.”

The New York Post’s Joel Sherman summed up the frustration of many fans.
“Whatever is ongoing behind closed doors, MLB owes it to thousands in stands who have waited here for now nearly 2 hours from sked 1st pitch to explain what is ongoing,” he tweeted. “Work/school day tomorrow. At least lay out possibilities so those who are sticking this out can make a decision.”

This is the Yankees Twitter page tonight – no updates at all. Just letting people pay for parking and buying beers and popcorn for almost 3 hours.

MLB could not have handled this any worse. What a complete disaster. https://t.co/rPBM4W9Sf6

And they wonder why baseball is a dying sport. Treat your fans better, this literally does not happen in other sports https://t.co/WaaGpsyEQO
