The New York Yankees beat the Chicago White Sox 2-1 in walk-off fashion on Friday night at Yankee Stadium, and the top of the ninth featured an amazing defensive play that was a pivotal moment in the victory.

The White Sox had runners on first and second with the game tied 1-1 in the top of the ninth, when Andrew Vaughn hit a groundball to third base. That turned into three outs.

New York’s Gio Urshela fielded the groundball and stepped on third, then threw to second baseman Rougned Odor, who held his foot on the bag before throwing a rocket to first baseman Luke Voit to complete the triple play.

That’s a well-executed play, and the Yankees may not win the game without it.

New York walked it off in the bottom half of the inning on an RBI single from Gleyber Torres:

The Yankees have a four-game winning streak and are now 26-19.
