The MMA Ten keeps you updated on the latest news from the world of the UFC and beyond. This week: MMA fighter whoops media star, everybody hates Conor, Mackenzie Dern’s amazing submission, and the feel-good story of Matt Grice.

One Arm, One KO

Prince of All Media/Skateboarder/MMA fan and fighter Jason Ellis challenged former UFC fighter Shane Carwin to a fight. Carwin is a massive heavyweight who almost finished Brock Lesnar and is known for his devastating power. Sounds crazy, right?

There was one caveat: Carwin had to fight with one arm tied to his body. The fight took place at Ellismania 13, known as the weirdest night in combat sports and “fighting at its dumbest.” Here’s a clip of Ellis vs. Carwin.

Ellismania has put on fights between men vs. women, blindfolded fighters, and people in odd costumes. Ellis actually beat former UFC fighter Gabe Ruediger at Ellismania 8. He didn’t fare so well against Carwin and his massive left hook.

Bisping F-Bomb of the Week

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping is always cussing someone out. This week’s recipient of the Bisping Beatdown was none other than former UFC/WWE champ Brock Lesnar.

Bisping recently appeared on The Ric Flair Show (WOOOOOOOO!) and he let Lesnar have it. Bisping is salty at most everyone, but he holds a particular contempt for fighters that have used PEDs.

“Listen, I respect any man that steps into the octagon because it takes balls. But if you have to go in there and take steroids to do it? F**k you, you cocky son of a b***h. Kiss my a**. I will knock Brock Lesnar out with one f***ing punch. I will take him and throw him out of the octagon like the p***y that he is. Am I making myself clear?

“F*** Brock Lesnar! F*** steroids! F*** all you f***ing f*****s that want to come in here and take steroids. Am I making myself clear? I apologize for using that word, I shouldn’t have said that (f*****s). But, steroids have destroyed the sport and anyone that takes them, kiss my a**. He’s a big son of a b***** but as I said, real men don’t cheat in a real fight. In your world you have to look good, you have to be big and it’s expected for the audience. You guys good for you, good for you. In a real fight, we shouldn’t be cheating and taking steroids.”

Tune in again next week to see who’s gets the Bisping Beatdown!

That’s Some Special Foot Cream

Lesnar enlisted the help of anti-doping attorneys to combat his recent positive tests. They’ve tested his eye medication and foot cream as possible sources for clomiphene, an estrogen blocker that is primarily used after a cycle of steroids. Lesnar tested positive for it after his fight with Mark Hunt.

MMAJunkie published part of a letter written by Lesnar’s attorney Howard Jacobs, describing the process they are going through to get Lesnar cleared.

“We are still investigating this matter (which investigation includes the ongoing testing of products used by Mr. Lesnar prior to the date of the positive test). To provide further detail, I am advised that the testing laboratory (Korva Labs) initially tested an eye medication, which was negative for either clomiphene or clomiphene metabolites. Subsequent testing has been conducted on a foot cream; that testing has included three separate extraction attempts, all of which have failed. A fourth extraction attempt is being made by Korva Labs this week.”

I believe the proper response to this nonsense can be exhibited in one famous Lesnar gif:

There Ain’t No F****in’ Irish Black Belts

Nick Diaz recently unleashed a tirade at Conor McGregor criticizing the UFC featherweight champ for wanting to fight Floyd Mayweather, not working with “reputable trainers,” and being tapped out by some of the “lamest lames,” which someone should quickly snag for their new band name.

To Be or Not to Be (A Free Agent)

LAS VEGAS, NV - NOVEMBER 16: Georges St-Pierre walks to the Octagon to face Johny Hendricks in their UFC welterweight championship bout during the UFC 167 event inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena on November 16, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. (Photo by Josh Hedges/Zuffa LLC/Zuffa LLC via Getty Images)

Fatigue has set in for MMA fans on the whole Georges St-Pierre situation. The GSP comeback rumor has been bandied about for what seems like forever, with mouth-watering matchups against Nick Diaz, Robbie Lawler, and Tyron Woodley mentioned as possible opponents for his first UFC fight since 2013. GSP recently stated he was a free agent, which the UFC says is incorrect.

Now comes the always-fun litigation or contract renegotiation. If St-Pierre truly wants to fight again, it will be for the UFC. A court case could keep him sidelined for years and at age 35, GSP simply can’t wait that long.

Lawler, the former UFC welterweight champion, responded to GSP’s claims that he didn’t consider a Lawler a real option because he withdrew from his UFC 205 fight against Donald Cerrone. In essence, Lawler told ESPN that GSP is basically ducking him.

“He says he was offered a fight against me but I wasn’t healthy or whatever. He’s basically trying to read between the lines like other people, not knowing what’s the matter with me. Nothing is the matter with me. Do you accept the fight or not? That’s the real question, right? Because I’m ready to fight right now. Did you accept it or not? I’m guessing you didn’t. Don’t try to hide behind, ‘I’m not healthy.’ That’s not the facts.”

I still believe we will see GSP in the UFC within the next year, but all these aggravating business aspects need to be cleaned up first.

Mackenzie Dern Hits Wicked Submission at Legacy 61

Mackenzie Dern is known as one of the greatest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners on the planet. She has won numerous world championships and started competing in the adult division at age 14. She recently went pro in MMA and won her debut.

Last week at Legacy 61, she hit an insane sub of an omoplata (shoulder lock) combined with a rear naked choke.

It shouldn’t be too long until Dern shows off her skills in the UFC.

Mousasi Lights Up Conor McGregor

Nick Diaz isn’t the only one ripping into Conor McGregor these days. Middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi had some interesting words about McGregor for FloCombat.

“Sometimes you have to say stupid s*** before people notice you. I got a private message from Conor McGregor. He was cursing at me, the little f***. He was threatening me. I said ‘What are you going to do with your 50 kilos?’ The f***er was threatening me with a knife. He knows I could beat his ass any day.

“I said some stuff that I didn’t mean. I said ‘People don’t know who the real fighter is or not.’ Of course, he’s a top fighter. English is not my first language and I just blurt stuff out sometimes. I thought it was funny that he was messaging me. Fighters are smart. One time I heard Ronda Rousey say on a good day she could beat Cain Velasquez. Anyone that has a little bit of a brain knows that’s not even possible. Can Velasquez in a wheelchair could beat her. Maybe I learned it late but it’s not too late for me yet. We have to do things differently now.”

Power Couple (Literally)

The UFC’s newest power couple is No. 8 bantamweight Raquel “Rocky” Pennington and No. 6 strawweight Tecia “Tiny Tornado” Torres. Check out their latest training video.

Yes, I know what you’re thinking. If the relationship doesn’t last, they can settle their differences in the cage. They’d have to do it at a catchweight since they are 20 pounds apart. Meanwhile, just wish them Mazel Tov — and quit being rude.

Conor: Mayweather Afraid to Fight Me

Conor McGregor did a live Facebook chat with LAD Bible and continued to try and entice Floyd Mayweather into a massive payday fight.

“Floyd’s afraid of a fight. Floyd doesn’t want the fight. Floyd wants a boxing match, and I’ve already said, ‘No problem. Get my f***ing money, and when you get my money, then we can box in this boxing match under this set of specific rules that will keep you alive.’

“So, I’m here. Where’s my money? Because if you keep dropping my name and you haven’t got my money, then I’m going to show up at your front door.”

Before a tussle with Floyd (that will never happen), McGregor will fight UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez for the title on Nov. 12 at the historic UFC 205 in New York. A win would make McGregor just the third fighter to hold UFC titles in more than one weight class. Randy Couture and B.J. Penn were the first two.

UFC Fighter Matt Grice’s Amazing Recovery

Matt Grice

UFC featherweight Matt Grice’s day job is working as a police officer in Oklahoma City. Just over three years ago, his car, sitting at a red light, was hit from behind by another car traveling in excess of 60 MPH.

Grice survived the crash, but had to have part of his skull detached in order to relieve the swelling and pressure on his brain.

Matt Grice Post-surgery

Grice is back at work as a police officer, but will never fight again. He recently appeared on The MMA Hour to discuss his long journey back to recovery. It’s an amazing story and definitely worth a listen.
