Golden State Warriors’ star Kevin Durant is 28 and spent the 2006-2007 academic year at the University of Texas at Austin playing basketball. That same year, 31-year-old Rachel Lindsay, the current star of The Bachelorette, was also attending UT.

Well one thing led to another, and a decade later word has emerged the duo dated while at Texas (according to Us Weekly). Durant is currently playing in the NBA Finals while Lindsay is hoping to find the man of her dreams on The Bachelorette.

In short, they are leading very different lives 10ish years after dating.

According to Us Weekly‘s insider, the relationship didn’t last too long, but it was serious.

“They broke up when she went to law school,” the insider told Us. “It was a pretty serious relationship.”

The same source also said the breakup was amicable.

Lindsay went on to law school at Marquette University while Durant went on to be drafted second overall by the Seattle SuperSonics in the 2007 NBA Draft.

The possibility of them getting back together is also over seeing as Lindsay is engaged (to one of her Bachelorette suitors; we don’t yet know which one).

“I am very much so in love and very much so engaged!” Lindsay gushed to Us on May 18. “Every morning I wake up and pinch myself and I keep asking myself if this is really happening. It’s crazy at times. I feel like I don’t even deserve this. I feel like I’m getting everything that I want and I am getting my happy ending.”

That’s a shame, because they would make one heck of a power couple.
