Bill Simmons dropped a bomb Monday about Zion Williamson. According to Simmons, he has been told that as of Thursday, the day of the NBA Draft, Williamson will no longer be part of the team.

“The Zion thing is a real, real, real subplot,” he started. ” I had someone yesterday who I trust that he will not be on that team by Thursday.”I was like, really? I haven’t heard that; they said you watch.”

Depending on who you listen to, this may come as a shock to some but not to most. Williamson has been in the news a lot recently with his off-the-court issues regarding his personal life.

Add that to the fact that he has been injured often since joining the NBA, and you can understand why he might be on the market.

ESPN’s Brian Windhorst confirms the Williamson rumors that the Pels are shopping him around.

“It’s surprising to me how out there it is in the league that the Pelicans are discussing Zion business,” Windhorst said. “I wouldn’t rule out anything, I guess, but the events of the last six months with Zion are what they are.

“There is no relationship between Zion and the organization. And minimal relationship between Zion and his teammates, from what I understand,” he said.

Windhorst did try to retract that statement about a Williamson trade Monday on “Get Up.”

“I just want to caution everybody about is Zion Williamson is not on the trade block. It is not an auction. I think the Pelicans are really interested in moving up, and that leaves everything on the table, including Zion, but it should be framed that way,” he said.

If this trade happens, this news may be more significant than the Bradley Beal-Suns trade.
