The Boston Celtics had a dismal showing in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Despite climbing back from a 3-0 series deficit to force the final elimination game, the Celtics put up a dud. The Miami Heat defeated Boston 103-84 and held the advantage from beginning to end. As it turns out, one of the Celtics’ stars was dealing with an ailment during the game.

“I’m told that Robert Williams was throwing up during the game,” Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium said.

“He only played 14 minutes last night; he was coming in, coming out of the game. When he would come out, he’d throw up. He was dealing with a stomach virus, a stomach bug; he played through it. He was sick yesterday; he was sick going into today. Only played 14 minutes, and so, that’s a guy the Celtics have depended on a lot over the course of the last couple years.”

Obviously, after all that happened and the fashion it did, nobody on Boston’s side wants to hear the ‘excuses.’ So the fact that this happened recently after their brutal loss on Monday night hasn’t helped matters.

Others could understand the level of safeguarding.

Meanwhile, someone else had a joke, themselves.

The Celtics will have to eat this one for a while, ailments or not.
