The Sacramento Kings are getting ready to head to their new home arena, the Golden 1 Center. However, they won’t be the first act to get the place going. That honor belongs to Sir Paul McCartney.
For just about anyone, getting a ticket to see him take the stage is a huge bonus to their musical life. Just don’t expect that to be the case for Kings center DeMarcus Cousins, who was asked about attending the concert and dropped this nugget:
DeMarcus Cousins was asked if he attended the Paul McCartney concert that opened Golden 1 Center last week. "I don't even know who that is."

Now, one could be forgiven for not being into the music of man who was at the peak of his popularity some 50 years ago. But, never hearing of Paul McCartney or the music he has produced is a bit far-fetched, since McCartney is likely on the shortlist for most famous person alive today.
It’s certainly possible that Cousins has many different cultural and musical touchstones, having been born in 1990 and growing up in the south. He might know of and be aware of The Beatles, without knowing every member. It’s also possible that he was just messing with people.
But if it’s the former, may we suggest going back and learning some popular music history, because McCartney happens to be one of the most influential and talented songwriters of his (or any) generation in modern popular music.
