Former NBA center Dikembe Mutombo was in Brussels Airport on Tuesday when a terrorist attack killed about 10 people and wounded 100 more.

Mutombo posted to Facebook twice in the hours after the attacks to assure his fans he was safe.

Dikembe Mutombo – God is good. I am in Brussels Airport… | Facebook

God is good. I am in Brussels Airport with this craziness. I am fine.

Dikembe Mutombo – Thank you everyone. I am safe here. God… | Facebook

Thank you everyone. I am safe here. God is good.

Mutombo did not indicate why he was in Belgium, but the 10-time All-Star and recent Hall of Fame inductee travels frequently for humanitarian work connected with his foundation and also as part of his role as NBA Global Ambassador.

The attacks in Belgium hit both the airport and a subway station and killed at least 30 people.

The Dikembe Mutombo Foundation released a statement about the attacks Tuesday:

Today we bow our heads in remembrance for those who lost their lives in Brussels. And we give thanks for all of the first responders offering support, strength, and solidarity to everyone impacted by these horrible tragedies. To those who are asking for an update – Dikembe was at the Brussels airport when the bombing happened this morning, and was thankfully unharmed. Local authorities are working to move everyone to safe locations while the City navigates through this act of terror. Please join us in keeping Brussels in your thoughts and prayers.
