Mutombo

Dikembe Mutombo might have just been really excited, or perhaps he knows something that we don’t.

Tuesday afternoon, the former NBA center — most famous for his ferocious blocks and his signature finger wag in the direction of his victims — tweeted out his congratulations to the Philadelphia 76ers on winning the top pick.

However, the lottery isn’t until 8 p.m. eastern time Tuesday. The tweet came at 4:36 p.m. eastern time. Of course, Sixers center Joel Embiid brought the tweet to light:

Mutombo had the tweet deleted, but not before the internet was able to capture the tweet, because they never miss.

The Sixers have the best odds to win the lottery tonight at 25%. The Lakers, Celtics, Suns, and Timberwolves all follow the Sixers in terms of greatest odds, but the actual order hardly falls into place like that.

So while Mutombo’s assumption (or knowledge) might be mathematically accurate, there’s a good chance that doesn’t hold true.

UPDATE: Welp, the Sixers indeed landed the No. 1 overall pick.
