It’s been 24 hours since Gordon Hayward had his horrific broken ankle injury in the Celtics opening game against the Cavs. Hayward remains in the hospital but is expected to make a full recovery.
While he is going to be out for the foreseeable future and obviously couldn’t be at TD Garden in person tonight, Hayward did the next best thing and greeted his teammates and fans on the scoreboard to give some words of motivation from his hospital bed before the Celtics home opener.

It didn’t matter what team you were rooting for, everyone felt terrible for Hayward last night. Well, almost everyone.
Anyway, “Embrace Debate” trolls aside, anyone with an actual heart was feeling for Hayward. His appearance has to no doubt lift the spirits of everyone in TD Garden and I’m sure once he hears that response, Hayward’s spirits will be lifted to as he begins the road of rehab for his ankle.
