While the Miami Heat made it all the way to the NBA Finals last season before losing in six games to the Los Angeles Lakers, their 2020-21 season didn’t get off to a great start. The Heat opened the new season on the road Wednesday night against the Orlando Magic (who went 33-40 last year and lost , and they lost 113-107. For Orlando, Evan Fournier led the way with 25 points on nine-of-13 shooting from the field, including this and-one play:

Aaron Gordon also added 20 points, seven rebounds and four steals for the Magic, while Markelle Fultz had 15 points, five rebounds and four assists. For the Heat, Bam Adebayo had 25 points and 11 rebounds while Jimmy Butler had 19 points, seven assists and seven steals. But this still probably wasn’t the start to their Eastern Conference title defense they had hoped for.
