It’s no secret that super prospect Victor Wembanyana has some NBA teams hoping he lands with them with the No. 1 overall pick. And now apparently, it’s not a secret what the Houston Rockets are doing anymore.

Right now, the Rockets own the worst record in the league at the NBA’s All-Star break. Houston is 13-45 through the team’s first 58 games. The team is 27.5 games back of first-place Denver, which exceeds woeful Detroit’s 27-game deficit by a half-game. Evidently, the team’s owner recently revealed the team’s motive.

Via FoxNews.com, Tilman Fertitta provided a simple answer to what the Rockets are doing right now:

But Fertitta is paying attention to draft prospects it seems, especially when it comes to one that experts say is the best in recent memory: France’s Victor Wembanyama.

A recent interview with Houston’s KPRC caught Fertitta at Galveston’s Mardi Gras celebration on Saturday, and he revealed where his mindset lies with the Rockets.

“Thank God we’ve got 10 days off,” he said. “Pray for Victor!”

“Pray for Victor!” might not roll off the tongue like phrases such as “Suck for Luck” or “Tank for Tua.” Fertitta lacked an alliteration or rhyming game here, but the message sent was pretty clear.

Not that anyone expected Houston to compete as it is, but they’re going through some lean years right now. They’re far removed from their heyday in the mid-2010s when they made multiple postseason appearances and multiple trips to the Western Conference Finals. They still are in search for their next franchise guy.

Victor Wembanyana would certainly be that guy, but for the Rockets’ sake, let’s hope they actually win the lottery this time.
