The HBO series “Winning Time” is about to go into its second season starting August 6th. The series follows the 1980s “Showtime” Los Angles Lakers led by Magic Johnson.

The series became wildly popular last year but a lot of the former Lakers from that team were not pleased with the portrayal of some of the main characters in the show, particularly Magic Johnson.

One of Johnson’s former teammates, James Worthy who was part of those Laker teams, expressed his disappointment in the series not coming to him either for some insight.

“I haven’t watched it because I wasn’t involved in it,” Worthy recently told TMZ Sports
.
“And I was hoping that they would come to us and get some really good interviews and some really good one-on-one sit-downs because we were willing to, like, share a lot of stuff. That decade was iconic. And I just wish we could have been involved,” he added.

Worthy and other former Lakers opted to do “Legacy” instead which was on Hulu. That show featured interviews with him and his former teammates which he considers the real truth about the 80s Lakers

“If you like satire and, you know, then you can watch Winning Time,” he concluded.
