Nowadays in the NBA, it’s not a surprise to see one major superstar join another one to create a “Super Team.” It all began when LeBron James decided to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers to join Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat to win championships, now it’s a common thing.

Anthony Davis joined LeBron James in LA, Kevin Durant left the Golden State Warriors after winning a championship with Steph Curry to join the Brooklyn Nets along with  Kyrie Irving, and at the time James Harden, to create their own super team. Between the two teams, however, these two teams have only won one championship and that’s the 2020 Los Angeles Lakers.

One person who saw this coming was NBA Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown who back in 2017 said that big-name players like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, nor Larry Bird, would never have joined forces to win a championship together.

“The biggest thing I think is somebody that takes responsibility for when you win and when you lose. I’m miffed by this new phenomenon in the NBA and now even in college a little bit that the great players wanna team up so they have a chance to win a championship,” Brown said at the time on “In Depth with Graham Bensinger.”

Brown continued.

“Michael Jordan, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson those guys wouldn’t want to team up with great players. They would accept the responsibility [that] if I’m so talented, I’m so great, I think I can do it along with any cast of characters they could get me.”

Brown also said players like James who chase rings, “lack confidence.” Harsh words from the NBA legend.

Brown would lead the Detroit Pistons to the 2004 NBA Championship. None of those players on that 2004 roster were featured on the NBA’s 75th-anniversary team.
