Christian Jones

It’s not often that a high school basketball player gets the opportunity to stare down and taunt NBA legend LeBron James after making a play during a game, but that’s exactly what Bishop Montgomery senior guard Christian Jones did after making a clutch shot this week.

On Tuesday evening, Christian Jones and his Bishop Montgomery team were taking on Sierra Canyon – the high school team of Bronny James and Bryce James, the sons of LeBron James. It was a close matchup that came down to the wire, and it was Jones who made what turned out to be the game-winning shot.

With 3.9 seconds left, Jones made a go-ahead three-pointer to seal the victory for his team. And once the shot went through the net, he celebrated by pointing directly at James, who was sitting in the stands watching his two sons play.

“I pointed directly at LeBron and he just shook his head up and down,” Jones said after the game, according to the Los Angeles Daily News. “He couldn’t say nothing.”

It was a clutch shot, and Jones said it came after he missed a very similar shot earlier in the game.

“At the end of the first quarter I missed a shot just like that one coming off a down-screen,” said Jones, who scored all seven of his points after halftime. “At the end, I said this is the exact same shot. I just shot it and it was just cash.”

It’s certainly a shot and a moment he won’t forget.
