On Sunday afternoon, LeBron James delivered quite a shock to the NBA world when he made a sudden return to the Los Angeles Lakers starting lineup after a foot injury kept him sidelined for 13 games. And although his presence in the starting lineup created quite a buzz, a bizarre quote during his postgame interview led to even more reactions.
During his postgame interview, LeBron James revealed that he tore a tendon in his foot, and when a reporter pointed out that this injury typically has a longer recovery than four weeks, James said he knew he would be back sooner than expected “when the doctors told me I was healing faster than anybody they’ve seen before with the injury.”
James also revealed that two separate doctors advised him to have season-ending surgery, but that he got another opinion from a doctor he called “the LeBron James of feet.
“I went to the LeBron James of feet,” James said. “And he told me he shouldn’t [get surgery].”

It was an incredibly bizarre quote, and James knew it cracking a smile after he said it. But when the quote hit social media, it obviously caused quite a stir, with people adding their reactions.

James said he did not know whether or not he would get surgery on his foot during the offseason, but he made it clear that if he did, that information would not become public and he would simply be ready to go by the start of the 2023-24 NBA season.
