LeBron James shared really good news about son Bronny James Monday.

The Los Angeles Lakers star met with reporters on media day and addressed a number of topics. They all paled in comparison to his son’s health, as he gave an update.

Bronny, a freshman star for the USC Trojans, collapsed July 24 at a basketball workout after a cardiac arrest. He spent a couple of days in the hospital before being released. Within days of his release, LeBron James posted a video of his son playing the piano at home, with the message, “GRAND RISING!! God is great! Bronny, YOU ARE AMAZING!!!”

Doctors diagnosed Bronny with an “anatomically and functionally significant Congenital Heart Defect,” according to a statement by the family in late August.

LeBron James said his son intends to play for USC this season.

“Bronny is doing extremely well,” James said. “He has begun his rehab process to get back on the floor this season with his teammates at USC. (With) the successful surgery that he had, he’s on the up-and-up. It’s definitely a whirlwind, a lot of emotions for our family this summer. But the best thing we have is each other.”

James said Bronny’s incident puts everything into perspective.

“I’m going to dedicate this season to Bronny because of the incident that happened this summer,” James said. “It just puts everything in perspective, no matter what’s going on in your life at that point in time, the only thing that matters is your family.

“So to see what … he’s been through over the last few months. It’s been a lot. I can only imagine how it’s been for him, because it’s been a lot for me, it’s been a lot for our family.”

“But the man above has definitely given us a lot of strength and has given Bronny the strength to bounce back. If he was to walk through the door right now, you would never know he had what he had, because of how well he’s moving and how vibrant he is.”

James, 38, is set to begin his 21st NBA season. He’s said he would like to play in the NBA with his son.

“I would do anything to play with my son for a year,” he told The Athletic.
