For the past two decades, LeBron James has been the face of the NBA as he has established himself as arguably the greatest player of all time. But as he competes in his 21st NBA season, he knows that retirement is coming soon – though he doesn’t know exactly when.

Ahead of the All-Star game on Sunday night, LeBron James opened up about nearing retirement age, revealing that he doesn’t know exactly how much longer he will be able to play, but he knows that retirement is coming soon.

“I have not mapped out how many seasons I have left. I know it’s not that many,” James said according to USA Today Sports.

There’s also the question of where James wants to finish his career. While he acknowledged that there’s a lot of uncertainty about the future, he did make it clear that he would like to finish his career as a member of the Lakers.

“I am a Laker, and I am happy and been very happy being a Laker the last six years, and hopefully it stays that way,” James said. “But I don’t have the answer to how long it is or which uniform I’ll be in. Hopefully, it is with the Lakers. It’s a great organization and so many greats. But we’ll see.

“I don’t know how it’s going to end, but it’s coming. It’s coming, for sure.”

We’ll have to see what the future holds for James, but it’s clear he doesn’t have that much time left.
