The Golden State Warriors shook up the NBA world recently with their trade for 12-time All-Star Chris Paul, and while some fans wondered how CP3 will fit, Stephen Curry thinks it will be “amazing.”
The Warriors star told the Through the Wire podcast this week that he considers Paul a mentor from their time together in North Carolina when Paul starred at Wake Forest, and Curry played at Davidson College.
He’s happy to have the 38-year-old point guard join the team.
“It’s going to be amazing,” Curry said. “It’s obviously a big change considering all the history that we’ve had. … he makes teams that he’s on better, and I think for us, that’s why the move was made.”
While many people assumed Paul would come in and be a sixth man to fire up the offense off the bench, Andscape’s Marc J. Spears reported Tuesday that he would start. Forward Kevin Looney will instead come off the bench.
While there will likely be some growing pains as the Warriors adjust to Paul, Curry says he brings a lot of smarts to the lineup.
“I’m just excited about the unknown and the opportunity behind it because there’s going to be a lot of high-IQ guys in the locker room trying to figure it out,” Curry said.
