Jordan Poole getting his shot blocked by Kristaps Porzingis.

Washington Wizards guard Jordan Poole has shown flashes of brilliance in his career. Unfortunately, he’s also had more than his share of “WTF” moments, and he had another one Monday night against the Boston Celtics.

Poole led a fast break in the first quarter, but defenders got back quickly and he slowed down around the free-throw line. He casually walked the ball back behind the 3-point line. Then he turned and threw up a nonchalant 3-pointer.

Celtics 7-foot-2 center Kristaps Porzingis, who happened to be standing only a step away, quickly closed and easily blocked the shot.

It’s hard to say what Poole was thinking there, but the play definitely didn’t work out like he planned.

The 24-year-old star is in his first season with the Wizards after being acquired from the Golden State Warriors in the Chris Paul trade earlier this year. He averaged a career-high 20.4 points per game last season, leading fans to wonder how much more he’d score without lapses like the one against the Celtics.

Fans had a good laugh at Poole’s expense on X/Twitter.
