Sometimes the metaphors are just too easy.
The Atlanta Hawks entered Monday night’s game against the Heat with a 6-23 record (worst in the NBA) and a -5.6 point differential (fourth worst). So when a woman behind the Hawks’ bench puked violently into her own lap late in the fourth quarter Monday, the symbolism was obvious.

You hate to see that. She thought she was putting her hand to her mouth to cover a burp or cough and wound up with a fistful of vomit. Now she’s headed home with her own insides all over her outfit. And the whole thing happened to be captured live on television.
On the bright side, the Hawks held onto win 110-104. Then again, that means only that they’re slightly less likely to secure an advantageous lottery position. So maybe there was no bright side. Just vomit.
