The University of Alabama announced Monday that former LSU player, now Alabama transfer Eli Ricks, had been arrested for speeding and possession of drugs in Mississippi.

Ricks is expected to contribute to the Alabama defense this coming season. No word yet from the school or head coach Nick Saban about this situation, but if anyone who has followed Saban’s career knows he more than likely won’t have much to say about this to the public, and Ricks’punishment (if there is one) will be handled inhouse.

But that hasn’t kept fans from chiming in about the situation. The reaction of most Alabama fans has been surprisingly tame. In fact, most think this is a good thing for the team, go figure.

While it seems that most Tide fans aren’t too concerned about the arrest, other fans of major programs seem to take glee in the fact that one of the pieces for the Tide this upcoming season could be in trouble.

Rarely do you see Alabama players get in trouble, but depending on how things go for Ricks, this could be a major deal for the Crimson Tide, and the fallout could be big for a team looking to defend its SEC Championship and win Nick Saban’s 8th national championship.
