Wednesday’s first-round action in the Big South Tournament served as a great reminder to the college basketball world that March Madness has arrived.

The tournament featured wild buzzer-beaters throughout the day, beginning with a stunning outcome in the Charleston Southern- UNC Asheville game.

Taje’ Kelly made a putback to beat the buzzer and give Charleston Southern a 79-78 win.

Charleston Southern entered the game with a 5-24 record and went 1-15 in Big South play, while UNC Asheville — an 11.5-point favorite — went 16-13 (8-8 in Big South). The beauty of March.

And on Wednesday night, the Presbyterian-Campbell game featured buzzer-beaters to end two overtimes!

Presbyterian led 64-62 in the final seconds of the first overtime, until Jordan Whitfield nailed a buzzer-beating jumper to send the game into double overtime.

Fast-forward to double overtime.

Again, Presbyterian led in the final seconds, and again, Campbell made a buzzer-beater.

This time it was a game-winner, with Milos Stajcic nailing a three-pointer and-one (he made the ensuing free throw) to give the Fighting Camels an amazing 75-72 victory.

Incredible ways for Charleston Southern and Campbell to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive. And absolutely heartbreaking ways for UNC Asheville and Presbyterian to have their seasons end.
