As Karl Ravech said on the ESPNU broadcast, Coastal Carolina ruled the roost Thursday.
Wow @karlravechespn — "Coastal Carolina rules the roost!" Man that is beautifully done.

In its first College World Series, Coastal Carolina won the whole damn thing with a 4-3 win over Arizona. It’s the first time since 1956 that a team won the CWS in its first-ever appearance.

The national championship comes after deciding Game 3 was pushed back a day due to inclement weather.
In the afternoon affair, both teams went scoreless through the first five innings. Coastal Carolina jumped out to a 2-0 lead thanks to an error by Arizona second baseman Cody Ramer, and doubled their lead to 4-0 after a home run by G.K. Young.

Arizona cut the Chanticleers’ lead to 4-3 in the ninth. But with the tying and winning runs in scoring position, Coastal Carolina was able to end the game on a strikeout and win the school’s first-ever national championship.

After winning a nation-high 53 games in the regular season, the Chanticleers were the only team who finished the regular season in the top 16 of the RPI to not host a regional. After winning the regional in Raleigh, Coastal Carolina went into Baton Rouge and swept LSU in two games.
The Chanticleers opened their first-ever CWS with a win over then-No. 1 Florida. After losing to TCU, Coastal Carolina rallied through the loser’s bracket to advance to the best-of-three finals. In the series against the Wildcats, the Chanticleers won the final two games after losing Game One.
The win is a long time coming for Coastal Carolina. Coach Gary Gilmore has coached the Chanticleers for 21 years. He was among a number of fans and former players to lament in the moment.
Taylor Motter of the Tampa Bay Rays is the lone CCU alum on an active MLB roster, and he celebrated at Tropicana Field following his alma mater’s triumph.

This also tops off a solid few months for the school itself. Dustin Johnson, a former Chanticleer, won the U.S. Open less than two weeks ago, and the entire athletic program is also moving to the Sun Belt in all sports on July 1st, and will transition to the FBS level in football in 2017.
The win is pretty incredible, based on the fact that the school’s enrollment is less than 10,000. This championship has been met with plenty of excitement and some wondering if this could ever happen in the College Football Playoff.
