The Northwestern Wildcats softball team celebrated a victory to advance to the Regional Final in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday. A big reason they’re celebrating right now is the performance by slugger Kansas Robinson. Robinson delivered a massive performance that dazzled college softball fans that included a rarity: She homered not once but twice in the same inning!

As Northwestern trailed the Kentucky Wildcats, the 13th-seeded ‘Cats got a boost from Robinson. On a 1-1 count with 0 outs in the bottom of the 3rd, Robinson took Wildcat pitcher Alexia Lacatena deep. The Northwestern Softball claimed that the slugger was “locked in,” not fully knowing how locked in she was!

Northwestern poured it on after the solo blast. They went on to take the lead 7-6, but Robinson wasn’t done. Kennedy Sullivan was in the circle by then, but it didn’t matter. Robinson smoked a 3-1 pitch that went deep and sent Northwestern fans into absolute hysteria!

After Robinson achieved the incredible feat of homering twice in the same inning, the college softball world had plenty to say.

The Northwestern Softball team is 2-0 through the first two legs of regional play. A victory on Sunday, and they will advance through to the NCAA Super Regionals. The Wildcats are seeded 12th out of the top 16 teams in the NCAA Tournament. They will meet one of Kentucky, Miami (OH), or Eastern Illinois depending on Sunday’s results.
