The biggest game in Lincoln, Nebraska tonight doesn’t have anything to do with the football team.

The Nebraska women’s volleyball team will be taking part in a one-of-a-kind event at Memorial Stadium that has the school so excited that they canceled classes for the day in preparation.

The No. 4 Nebraska Cornhuskers will take on the Omaha Mavericks at 7 p.m. inside the football stadium where they look to break the NCAA attendance record.

The largest attendance for an NCAA volleyball game is 18,755 people but the world record for attendance for a women’s sporting event is 91,648. Nebraska will breeze past that first one and hopes to break the second one as well. That record was set last year for a Champions League soccer match between Barcelona and Wolfsburg.

“Yes, we believe that goal will be attained,” Nebraska athletics director Trev Alberts told USA TODAY Sports. “I think the number is going to be pushing closer to 95,000.”

As part of the festivities, Wayne State College will take on University of Nebraska-Kearney beforehand at 4:30 p.m.

Videos and photos from inside the stadium have started to hit social media and fans are thrilled with the overwhelming number of people on hand to watch a women’s volleyball match.

Naturally, the reactions from around the sports world have been extremely positive and exciting.
