Olivia Dunn’s success stretches well beyond her LSU gymnastics career as her social media presence and endorsement deals have blown up alongside her accomplishments.

All of the fame created a huge amount of attention that she wasn’t anticipating. So much so, that she hasn’t been attending classes in person. The spotlight even turned dangerous.

“I love getting to know the people that follow me and what I do, so I always try to say hi to everybody I can that recognizes me when I’m out in public and I always try to take a picture,” she told NJ.com. “But this past year, it’s been a bit crazy.”

The craziness had the 21-year-old not only shifting to online classes but also receiving a threat while on the Baton Rouge campus.

“I had a scare once with a message that I got about a class I was going to, and I was like, you know what, it’s not worth it,” Dunne said. “It was a threat. It seemed like they knew where I was at and what class, and I just decided better (to be) safe than sorry.”

According to the police report obtained by NJ.com, Dunne received death threats on Instagram on Dec. 21, 2021 from an apparent stalker who threatened to “shoot up” the university. Two months after the messages, LSU head coach Jay Clark called the police when an unidentified man was seen inside the team’s facility watching them.

Since then, the team has taken precautions by beefing up security and being more aware of their surroundings.
