You know, sometimes what happens in the stands is more exciting than what happens during the game. At least, that was the case at a NCAA Baseball Regional.
At the Campbell vs. North Carolina State regional elimination game, a man dropped his child on its head while trying to go after a foul ball via TMZ Sports.
Wolfpack third baseman LuJames Groover III hit a ball into foul territory down the first base line. The baseball careened through a nearby concourse as a man holding a toddler jogged after it.
Pursuing the foul ball, he dropped the child on his head. The man lost his balance and fell to the ground, and as he was falling, the child he was holding smacked his head hard on the pavement. Yikes!
The child seemed in pain, but thank goodness neither the child nor his guardian was hurt badly. It certainly wasn’t a good look for the parent or guardian in charge of the kid, as the incident was blasted across millions of TV screens nationwide.
Despite the bad optics, some fans didn’t seem to have an issue with what happened.
Give me a break. This dad was trying to have a great experience with his kid at a baseball game while trying to catch a foul ball. Had he not tripped & fell, you either wouldn’t have posted anything or you’d be singing his praises.

While other fans didn’t see it that way.
To be clear: we're not dragging this man for having an accident.
Accidents happen when we're distracted. The severity of the accident depends on a lot on the level of distraction.
We're dragging him for being SO distracted by something unimportant that the accident is SEVERE.— cinnamonbaryonyx (@cinnamonbaryon1) June 6, 2023
YIKES! Hope the kid is ok!

Dads, in advance of Father's Day, don't do this with your kid. https://t.co/Dh0heqlMTJ

That pretty much sums up a lot of people’s reactions to a scary incident that could have been worse.
