The NFL world is buzzing over comments that New York Jets star Aaron Rodgers made about legendary quarterback Joe Namath.

Rodgers ripped the legendary Namath over the Hall of Famer’s eye-popping rant directed at Jets quarterback Zach Wilson. The Jets drafted Wilson with the second overall pick of the 2021 NFL Draft and Wilson just hasn’t lived up to expectations. His poor performances have been reasons why the Jets have sputtered to 1-2 since Rodgers’ bummer Achilles injury in Week 1. Without Rodgers, the Jets are pretty much helpless with Wilson under center. But Rodgers defended his teammate from the backlash from both fans and former players like Namath.

Rodgers emerged for his scheduled appearance on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ on Tuesday. Rodgers said that he told his team that the biggest difficulty they’d face all season was how they handled success, whether they had it or not.

“And that goes for our fanbase and former players as well. You’re not helping the cause,” Rodgers said.

Rodgers’ comments were expected for a teammate looking to cover for his fellow teammate. Even with how bad Wilson is being, it is good to see Aaron supporting him. However, it’s clear that Wilson isn’t the guy. If you ask some Jets fans, many wonder what has to happen for that to connect with everyone. But head coach Robert Saleh remains steadfast that Wilson is their quarterback. Let’s hope for his sake this doesn’t become a sound byte like with Lovie Smith and Rex Grossman.

The NFL world had lots to say about Aaron Rodgers blasting Joe Namath.
