As Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers considers his NFL future and the sports world awaits a final announcement on what exactly he plans to do next season, on prominent NFL reporter has quite a massive update on Rodgers’ future plans.
The New York Jets have been interested in signing Aaron Rodgers for the past several weeks and have been seen as a frontrunner. But during an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up on Wednesday morning, ESPN insider Jeff Darlington revealed that he thinks it’s time for the Jets to give up on Rodgers and sign Derek Carr instead.
And one of them is a major update about Rodgers’ future.
“I’ve learned two things in the past 24 hours that make me kind of believe that the Jets – it’s time for them to simply sign Derek Carr,” Darlington said on Get Up on Wednesday morning.
“The first is a conversation I had with a very important Green Bay Packers source, who quite honestly believes that Aaron Rodgers will be back with the Packers and that all of this is being overhyped,” Darlington said on Get Up. “He looks at the contract that Aaron Rodgers signed last year, the commitment that he made to the team, and believes that at the end of the day, Aaron Rodgers will be back with the Packers.”
You're going to want to hear what @JeffDarlington said this morning on @GetUpESPN re: Aaron Rodgers returning to the Packers.⁰

The second reason why Darlington thinks the Jets should sign Carr is that the team reportedly told the former Las Vegas Raiders quarterback that they believe he can be a first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback with the Jets.
If they like Derek Carr that much and there’s a good chance Rodgers won’t even leave the Packers, it would make sense to sign Carr and stop pursuing Rodgers.
