Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-New York) created headlines Sunday night when she blasted Christian advertising during the Super Bowl LVII broadcast.

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs defeated Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles in a dynamite game marred by a controversial defensive holding call at the end of the game.

During the broadcast, the Christian group “He Gets Us” spent $20 million on two Super Bowl advertisements that “showed Jesus as someone with empathy for immigrants and the poor, who was also tired of the division of politics,” according to Fox News.

Needless to say, the left-leaning Ocasio-Cortez didn’t like what she saw:

“Something tells me Jesus would *not* spend millions of dollars on Super Bowl ads to make fascism look benign,” the Congresswoman wrote.

The NFL and political worlds were quick to react to the take:

“Jesus died a horrific death on a Roman cross so that our sins can be forgiven and whoever believes in Him will have eternal life. That’s proof there’s nothing Jesus wouldn’t do to show us His love. AOC needs to know Jesus,” Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted.

“There was no political reference in these ads. They were about loving one another. AOC’s comments prove once again that the real battle for America is between Christianity and marxism,” wrote Centennial Institute director Jeff Hunt.

“If Jesus can afford to advertise during the Super Bowl, he can afford to pay taxes,” one observer wrote in response.

“AOC…are you really that hateful? Fascism?? No worries. Jesus loves you also,” Republican Congressman Greg Murphy wrote.

“When you get really mad at the ‘don’t hate people’ ad,” wrote the Baseball Crank.

Congresswoman Ocasio-Cortez did not immediately respond to the online criticism.
