The Arizona Cardinals suffered a disappointing season last year when they struggled to win four games while losing franchise quarterback Kyler Murray to an ACL injury.

To right that ship, however, first-year Cardinals coach Jonathan Gannon will need Murray to get healthy.

Murray gave a troubling update this week after saying he’s only in competition with himself to return to the field.

“This is different,” Murray said, according to Fox News. “This is you on you. Nobody really knows what you’re going through except for yourself and whoever you’re working out with.”

Murray then said he doesn’t know when exactly he’ll return to the field.

“I don’t have a timetable,” Murray said.

The quarterback went on to say that rehabbing an injury is no different than how he operates under normal circumstances.

“I get to do what I love every day — play quarterback in the NFL,” Murray said. “Did I get hurt? Yeah. Did I experience something no one wants to experience? Yeah. But it’s nothing for me to get up and work out. I was already doing that before I got hurt.”

Murray went on to say he doesn’t want to play before he’s ready and hurt himself and the team.

“Whenever you’re ready, you’ll know you’re ready.”
