Nathan Peterman fights to play quarterback in the NFL another day.
Two days after he was released by the Chicago Bears as part of mandated roster cuts at the end of training camp, Peterman was re-signed by the franchise to their practice squad.
The news means Peterman will remain with the team he played for last season rather than needing to look for his fourth franchise since joining the NFL.
After putting up big numbers at the University of Pittsburgh, Peterman was selected in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. He spent two years with the team in a mostly backup role, though he did make the start in four of his eight appearances over that time. Peterman then spent two seasons with the Oakland Raiders on their practice squad or injured reserve but joined the active roster when the franchise moved to Las Vegas in 2020. In two seasons in Vegas, he made two game appearances.
Peterman was signed by the Bears before the 2022 season and bounced between the practice squad and the main roster. Due to injuries, he was able to see action in three games, starting one.
In 13 appearances and five starts, Peterman is 85 of 160 for four touchdowns and 13 interceptions.
