The Cincinnati Bengals don’t have much to worry about when it comes to the starting quarterback Joe Burrow.

But as any NFL fan knows, it’s always good to have a capable backup on hand in case disaster strikes.

That’s likely why the Bengals have invited veteran backup quarterback Trevor Siemian to meet with the team, which will happen on Wednesday, per James Palmer.

Siemian spent last season with the Chicago Bears where he appeared in two games, starting one of them. He completed 15 of 26 passes for 184 yards, one touchdown, and one interception on the season.

The Bears elected to part ways with the 31-year-old in March after signing P.J. Walker to serve as Justin Fields’ backup.

After starting 24 games with the Denver Broncos, Siemian has since spent time with the New York Jets, Minnesota Vikings, New Orleans Saints, and Bears. Despite going 0-4 as a starter there, he had a pretty successful stint in New Orleans, completing 57.4 percent of his passes for 1,154 yards with 11 touchdowns and three interceptions.

News of Siemian’s meeting drew mixed reactions from the NFL crowd.

“Been getting the vibe that the Bengals are done with Brandon Allen. Think Trevor Siemian would definitely add a little more in the quarterback room,” said Bengals fan Willie Lutz.

“Meh. Better options available IMO. I want someone that gives me a sliver of hope of Burrow has to miss time,” another Bengals fan said. “Wentz, Ryan, Teddy, Flacco I’d all be 100% fine with giving a good contract to. Siemian (nor Allen) inspire any level of confidence in me as a backup. Or draft a guy.”

We’ll see if Cincinnati decides to sign him as their new backup for Burrow.
