Bill Belichick Syndication: Arizona Republic

The New England Patriots have a bit of a quarterback dilemma this week as starter Mac Jones has not performed well this season, but backup Bailey Zappe has certainly not done any better when he’s had his chances in the game. It’s led to a lot of chatter about what the team plans to do at the quarterback position, but head coach Bill Belichick certainly isn’t divulging more information than he has to.

During a press conference this week, Bill Belichick was asked about the team’s quarterback situation, but he made it very clear that he had no intention of announcing a starting quarterback – or anything else regarding his team’s starting lineup at any other position, for that matter.

“I’m not going to make any announcements on our lineup at any position,” Belichick said according to Pro Football Talk. “So, it doesn’t matter what the position is. We’ll see how practice goes, see if everybody is ready to go. Hopefully everybody is ready to go, see what the injury situation is, and we’ll go with who we think is best on Sunday.”

Jones has remained the team’s starter throughout the season but has been pulled on several occasions this season in favor of Bailey Zappe, who has also not performed well. We’ll have to see whether or not Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers follows that same pattern.
