The Los Angeles Chargers clinched a playoff berth this week by defeating the Indianapolis Colts on Monday night. It’s the team’s first playoff appearance since 2018, but that doesn’t mean Chargers head coach Brandon Staley is rushing to celebrate it.

After the game on Sunday, Brandon Staley revealed that he isn’t even really celebrating the postseason appearance because the team “expected to be” in the playoffs and that “this is the beginning.”

“It’s just the beginning,” Staley said according to Pro Football Talk. “This is not our final goal. We expected to be at this point. I’m really proud of how this season has gone for our football team and what we’ve been able to demonstrate in order to make this postseason. That’s probably what I’m most proud of, not just being in the postseason but how we made it, what it took for us to get in, but this is just the beginning for us.”

The Chargers will now have a chance to improve upon their expectations and make a run through the playoffs. Last playoff appearance, the team beat the Baltimore Ravens in the Wild Card round of the 2018 playoffs before falling to the New England Patriots in the division round.
