Ever since he suffered a brutal injury during the NFC Championship game against the Philadelphia Eagles, the health of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been a major source of conversation in the NFL world. But it looks like his recovery is going quite smoothly.

As San Francisco 49ers beat writer David Lombardi of The Athletic reported on Tuesday morning, Brock Purdy is expected to begin throwing again this week following his surgery.

“Brock Purdy is expected to resume throwing this week for the first time after Keith Meister installed an internal brace to repair his torn UCL. Resumption should come right on or before the original recovery schedule, which called for throwing 3 months post-surgery (early June),” Lombardi said in a tweet on Tuesday morning.

Obviously, this is a pretty major update on Purdy as it now seems possible that he could by ready to return in time for the start of the 2023 NFL season. As a result, the NFL world had plenty to say about the announcement on social media.

Obviously, Purdy still has a long way to go before he’s able to start in an NFL game, but this is certainly a promising update for Niners fans.
