For the past several weeks, Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback C.J. Stroud has been the clear betting favorite to be selected by the Carolina Panthers with the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming 2023 NFL Draft. But that is no longer the case.

As Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk points out, the betting market has shifted dramatically. Stroud is no longer favored to be the No. 1 overall pick as Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young has now overtaken him as the new clear betting favorite.

“Via BetMGM, Young has gone from -190 on February 20 to +300 on March 13 to -300 currently. Stroud, in contrast, has flip-flopped from +400 to -300 to +210,” Florio wrote for Pro Football Talk on Wednesday morning. “Meanwhile, two other quarterbacks have plummeted. Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson was +500 a month ago. Now, he’s at +2000. Kentucky quarterback Will Levis has fallen from +1400 to +5000.”

Obviously, there’s still a long time until draft night and a lot could still change. But as of now, it sounds like the sports books expect the Panthers to select Young with the pick after they’d previously been expecting Stroud to be the No. 1 overall pick.

We’ll have to see how this all shakes out on draft night later this month.
