The Tampa Bay Buccaneers may have lost on Sunday, but they certainly looked as good as possible in their “creamsicle” throwback jerseys. Buccaneers star lineman Tristan Wirfs understandably wanted to make sure to hold onto the classic jersey from the game.

The Buccaneers had not worn the throwback jerseys in over ten years before Sunday. And that made things very awkward when Lions star lineman Penei Sewell asked Wirfs to do a jersey swap after the game.

“Let me get that,” said Sewell to Wirfs pointing to his jersey.

“This?! I gotta keep this one,” said Wirfs in response to Sewell’s request. “It’s the creamsicle, you know I gotta keep the creamsicle one.”

Fans took notice of this video on social media and understood Wirfs wanting to keep the iconic jersey from Week 6.

Wirfs did say that he was going to send Sewell another standard Buccaneers jersey of his to Sewell, so at least Sewell wasn’t leaving totally empty-handed.

It is very funny how much players and fans alike now love these throwback jerseys so much, especially because there were plenty who hated the jersey back when it used to be their full-time look.

It may be a situation where the time away from the jerseys makes players and fans love and appreciate the look even more when the Buccaneers do wear them. Regardless, Penei Sewell will have to look elsewhere if he wants to get his hands on the iconic creamsicle jersey of the Buccaneers.
