The vast majority of players in the NFL have an agent representing them in contract discussions with teams and to help them navigate through the business end side of the sport. But apparently, Caleb Williams is not planning to do that.
According to NFL insider Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, Caleb Williams has decided not to hire an agent as he begins his NFL career. Instead, he is planning to represent himself.
“The list of draft-eligible players and their agents, published by the NFL Players Association on Wednesday, does not include the former USC quarterback. After sending a couple of texts, we’ve confirmed that Williams has not hired an agent — and he apparently does not plan to do so,” Florio wrote for Pro Football Talk.
Obviously, this is a pretty shocking move from such a high-profile player ahead of the NFL Draft, and it led to a lot of reactions on social media as a result.
Everyone is trying to figure out Calebs deal. It seems like he just wants to march to his own beat https://t.co/JSLKHzXRGa

This kid is going to be a massive bust. Ego the size of Texas Stadium Jumbotron. Of course he doesn’t need an agent. He probably hasn’t followed anyone’s direction or advice since birth.

There are certainly some current NFL players who do represent themselves without an agent, but it’s still pretty bold to see a rookie planning to do that as he steps into his NFL career.
We’ll have to see how it works out for him.
