The Carolina Panthers are pretty solidified at the quarterback position with Bryce Young established as the team’s clear-cut starter, albeit when healthy, and Andy Dalton remaining with the team as one of the most veteran and experienced backup quarterbacks in the league. But that does not appear to be stopping the team from trying to bolster the quarterback position.

While Bryce Young was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, which is a good sign he’ll be ready to return from a one-game absence following suffering an ankle injury, the Panthers find themselves in need of a new practice squad quarterback.

Earlier this week, Carolina’s divisional rival, the New Orleans Saints, signed Jake Luton to their active roster. On Tuesday, the Panthers brought in both Bryce Perkins and Kellen Mond for workouts, as they look to add some more depth and young talent to their quarterback position. Pro Football Talk was the first to report the news.

It’s a pretty notable move, especially given that many of those in the NFL world have a lot to say about Mond, the former Texas A&M quarterback. As a result, people had plenty to say about both Mond and Perkins on social media.

It remains to be seen what the Panthers choose to do with Mond and Perkins, now that Young looks increasingly likely to start Sunday’s game vs. the Minnesota Vikings.
