Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus has been with the team for three seasons now and has yet to lead the team to a single season. But despite this, it sounds like the Bears are planning to bring Eberflus back for another season next season.

While many expected Matt Eberflus to be fired after this season after leading the team to a losing record yet again, NFL insider Adam Schefter reported on Wednesday morning that the team is actually planning to retain Eberflus for yet another season.

“After extensive meetings Monday and Tuesday, the Bears are not making a head coaching change and Matt Eberflus offically is expected to return for the 2024 season, per league sources,” Schefter said in a post on X, the social media website formerly known as Twitter.

Obviously, this is some pretty horrible news for all of the Bears fans who were hoping that the team would fire Eberflus this offseason. As a result, the NFL world had a lot to say about the surprising decision on social media.

It’s definitely a bold move for the Bears to keep Eberflus for another season. We’ll have to see how it works out for the Bears next season.
