The Cincinnati Police were quick to charge Bengals star running back Joe Mixon after a road rage incident involving an unnamed woman on Jan. 21st.
The police, however, almost as quickly dropped those charges while continuing the investigation.
Now, on Friday, the police announced that Mixon is being re-charged with aggravated menacing for pointing a gun at the woman during the incident.
Mixon was on his way to Paycor Stadium where the Bengals were gathering before the team left for a playoff game in New York against the Buffalo Bills.
The road-rage incident took place at Second and Walnut streets at the Banks around 1 p.m. E.T.
A warrant was issued on Feb. 2nd before the police immediately rescinded it in favor of further investigation.
The Bengals and Mixon have yet to comment on the new charges.
Mixon’s agent showed tapes to cincinnati.com in effort to clear his client, but those videos were inconclusive.
“In the weeks since the downtown Cincinnati case became public, The Enquirer reviewed four video recordings provided by Mixon’s agent, Peter Schaffer,” wrote Sharon Coolidge and Kelsey Conway of cincinnati.com. “They show Mixon driving downtown when the incident was alleged to have taken place but do not show the incident itself. The point where Mixon reaches Second and Walnut is too far away to glean what, if anything, happened.”
