The Houston Texans are facing what is essentially a playoff play-in game this weekend against the Indianapolis Colts. A win will put them into the postseason and a loss will likely leave them on the outside looking in. And it sounds like rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud is ready for it.

In a press conference this week, C.J. Stroud expressed his confidence in his team heading into the must-win game over the Colts.

“The time is now,” Stroud said according to the Houston Texans official team website. “It’s not next year. It’s not the year after that. It’s right now. We have the opportunity to control our own destiny. I’m excited to do that.”

Stroud was selected with the No. 2 overall pick by the Texans in the 2023 NFL Draft, and he has blossomed into an immediate star for the team and is the runaway favorite to earn the league’s Offensive Rookie of the Year award after an absolutely prolific season.

But it’s clear that Stroud isn’t just content with a strong debut season, he wants to lead his team to the playoffs, and he has a chance to do it this week. We’ll have to see how he performs on Sunday.
