With former NFL superstar quarterback Colin Kaepernick still unable to get an opportunity in the league, there was quite a bit of speculation that he might consider playing in the XFL to prove himself to teams in the league. But it doesn’t sound like that’s going to happen, after all.

In a recent post from the XFL official Instagram account, a fan suggested in the comments section that Colin Kaepernick should play in the XFL “if he wants to prove he still can.” But XFL owner Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson seemed to shoot that idea down in a reply, making it clear that he does not think that Kaepernick will be joining the XFL.

“We met with Kap and his agents (whom I like a lot) earlier this year. Good meeting, looked to create an opportunity for him but I don’t think it’ll happen. We’ll see,” Dwayne Johnson said in a comment.

Obviously, this is pretty major news about the future of the former star quarterback, and the football world had plenty to say about it on social media as a result.

It sounds like Kaepernick is not interested in playing in the league, but that the XFL would be glad to have him.
