The Indianapolis Colts were an absolute disaster this season, finishing with a 4-12-1 record that highlights the many questions about their future moving forward. Their head coaching situation is one of those many questions, but owner Jim Irsay provided some insight into their coaching search on Thursday by revealing that they interviewed a highly acclaimed offensive coordinator on Thursday.
Irsay took to social media to reveal that the organization has completed an interview with Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy.

Bieniemy has been with the Chiefs since 2013, first as the team’s running backs coach, and then as the team’s offensive coordinator since 2018.
Since becoming offensive coordinator, Kansas City has not won less than 12 games in a season and has had one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL.
He has obviously had excellent players to work with in Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce in that time period, along with one of the best offensive head coaches in NFL history in Andy Reid.
That being said, the NFL world seems to believe that it is long overdue that Bieniemy gets a chance as a head coach in the NFL.
“A Colts head coach who is overqualified and overdue for the opportunity? Imagine that,” tweeted Don Van Natta Jr. of ESPN.

“First time of maybe a handful of times we’ll hear the Chiefs OC’s name in HC conversation,” tweeted Harold Kuntz of Fox4 News in Kansas City.

It is certainly still possible that interim head coach Jeff Saturday becomes the full-time head coach in Indianapolis given his extensive history with the team dating back to his playing career.
That being said, Eric Bieniemy would certainly present a very intriguing option to help turn this Colts team around for the future.
